Go Away! (... Oh, But Give Us Your Money First...)

Go Away! (... Oh, But Give Us Your Money First...)

This goes under the category of "deliciously ironic juxtaposition of two consecutive e-mails." Or in other words:

  1. E-mail #1: Blah blah blah typical job rejection BS e-mail blah blah blah.

  2. E-mail #2: Yay! Sales! Shop at Safeway!

I also couldn't help but notice the drastic and ironic difference in message size between the two e-mails. If one assumes for a moment that the size and visual complexity of an e-mail is directly proportional to the degree to which the sender hopes to impress the recipient, it's a cynically funny take on how Safeway views customers versus how it views job applicants. The inconsistency catches up with them when one person (e.g. me) happens to be both.

(Of course, if I'm going to call out Safeway on this, I need to mention that a lot of employers have developed unacceptably impersonal attitudes towards applicants, especially in recent years.)
